How to REALLY Organize your Closet
If you’ve been thinking abut organizing your closet, but are dreading it, here are 2 things to keep in mind that will help you REALLY organize your closet and be more successful.
Decluttering has a lot to do with mindset. You have to be in the mood to declutter. When you feel up to the challenge, you’ll be more likely to be honest with yourself and be ruthless. So, while you might not jump for joy at the idea of getting organized, think about how good it will feel when it’s done, and get yourself psyched up!
It’s important to determine your WHY, because this will guide your process. What’s pushing you to declutter your closet? Are there items you no longer wear? Do you find you have too many options and choosing what to wear is overwhelming? Knowing your WHY, will give you questions to ask yourself along the way. Here’s an example: If your goal is to get rid of items that no longer fit, with each piece of clothing, ask yourself if it still fits or try it on. If your goal is to get rid of items you no longer wear, you’re going to ask yourself when the last time was that you wore that item.
Setting yourself up for success when organizing is key, because it will keep the momentum going, and you’re less likely to dread the process.
